Body of Water : The Gulf of Mexico

Our task was to identify the dangers in a body of water. We had to work with two others. I chose to work with my sister, Alecia. We both chose to research on a Gulf ( since we didn't know what it is).

Milk Investagation

Yesterday we did a Milk Investigation. We had to predict if the Milk will freeze. We used 3 different types of Milk. Which were Condensed Milk, Light Blue Milk and Up and Go. Here are some pictures:-)

You can change Milk Powder (something solid)

into liquid milk.

Solid Define: Firm, Stable in Shape. Which can be formed

into liquid.

Help: Water , Milk and Dice. Personally I think that it changes by the size.

Meaning: Liquid: Not Stable or Fluid

When the liquid is poured into a solid object it changes it’s physical appearance.

Our Result

The Condensed Milk didn't freeze, because it doesn't contain water.  Without water Milk cannot freeze. The  Light blue milk and the Up and Go did freeze. This indicated that Milk contains Water.

PADLET :

PURPOSE:   TO OBSERVE AND RECORD THE CHANGES WHEN DIFFERENT MILK IS PUT IN THE FREEZER.

WHAT YOU NEED: a selection of 3 different type of milk

clear container

WHAT TO DO: Put  an equal volume of each type of milk in a clear container

Place each container in the freezer

Record what happens to each type of milk as it freezes.  Note its colour, texture and shape.

Record the time it takes to each variety to freeze.

Condensed Milk	It didn't freeze, because Condensed Milk doesn't contain water.
Light Blue Milk	The Light Blue Milk did freeze, because it contains water. It contained the most ice.
Up and Go	Up and Go contains alot of ingredients. It did freeze. It had a chocolate colour.

New Zealand

We have plenty of things to be proud of in New Zealand, Like for example the Lord of Rings were filmed here in Aotearoa. The biggest sport in New Zealand is Rugby, It is so big that the Rugby World Cup was held in New Zealand and we won the Cup.

Cultural Day

                         
Today Room's 7, 6 and 3 celebrated Diversity. To start off a sunny day we attended Mass, and the theme of Mass today was Diversity. Diversity means the Difference's  that we have and  we are all the same. We celebrated by showing each other our different presentations. Each classroom has a Continent and throughout this term we have been learning about those continents. Room 3s continent is South America, Room 6s continent is Asia and Rooom 7s continent is Europe. 

In our classses  we have spilt up into four groups which are four countries from the continent that we are learning about.
In the Morning Room 7 were presenting first. Their presentations were Amazing and Exciting. The very first group from their Presentation was U.K and the very last group was Spain.

 Instead of having four presentations they had Five presentations so their  one took for long. The Next class was Room 3. Their presentations were Awesome, because of their beautiful presenting I was starting to get chills and butterfly's.

My group was first India. I felt like I was going to spew up. After our presentations I felt very relived and happy that, that was over. But it wasn't over yet, After lunch we were going to Dance. Each group from the classes had to do a Traditional dance in front of the whole school. 

Instead of having Butterfly's and chills I was about to faint. The order of the dances went from Room 7, to Room 3 and last of all Room 6. Like before the first group to dance was U.K and the last group dance was Japan. In my class we have been learning about India, Thailand, China and Japan. Our dance was a Bollywood dance that was originated in Mumbai. 

My experience from today was such a Journey and I hope one day you might want to learn or discover these Continents. Asia, Europe and South America:-)

Jellyfish

This presentation is about jellyfish. First what we had to do is think of questions that we would want to know about jellyfish then when  we were finished we had to answer the questions. I hope you like reading my questions and watching my movie that I made  from Animoto:)

Thankful

I am thankful for having an education and being able to learn because in some countries girls don’t get to go school. Another thing  that I am thankful for is having parents   because some children don’t have parents and they have foster parents. The last thing that I am really thankful for is food and water because without food and water you won’t  survive,  and because some children around the world eat nothing and have to starve.

I show that I am thankful by saying thank you when I get something . Another way that I show that I am thank is by doing my work. The last way that I so that I am thankful is by don’t wasting the food that I am given.

Alex Visit

Yesterday the 20th of june, we had a successful person who came into our class to talk to us about his journey. His name is Alex and he is Miss Leaupepe friend’s husband.  First we started with a prayer, then Alex our speaker talked about himself.  Alex talked about his life and where he lived.

Alex is half Samoan and half Palagi, he was also lucky enough to study in England. To be able to study in England you have to apply for this scholarship which is called the Rhodes  scholarship. Only three people a year get to go to England so Alex was lucky enough to have that opportunity.

When he came back from England he worked for Trade Me for 3 years. Now he is working at the gym which is called Les Mills. Alex said that he was going to travel to America next  month to go around the different gyms. He also showed us pictures of England and where he lived.

When he finished talking about his life, we had  to asked him questions. I asked him how many countries that he has been to, and he said that he has been to 30 countries. At the end we took pictures with him. I can’t wait for our next speaker  because I like learning  more about being successful. My favourite part from his visit was him talking about Wellington and his school.

Seals

This Week we have been looking at water and its ability's. We had to chose a animal that lives under water, I choose a seal because I thought it would be very interesting to find out about a seal. We had to choose five questions. Then we had to answer those questions. I hope you enjoy my presentation about Seals:)

Helping the Hungry

Helping the Hungry

1) What is your foundation?
The foundation is Caritas ✔

2) Who do they help?
They help the people in Africa, Asia, Latin America and in the Pacific. ✔

3) Where are they based?
They are Based Wellington ✔

4) How do they help?
Caritas helps buy donating food and suplies to certain parts in the world. ✔

5) How do they raise their money?
They get donations from people who have money left over and the other way they raise money is having a Fundraiser.  ✔

6) Why do you think they help the hungry?
I think they help the hungry and the poor  because there are children who were suffering from hunger and maybe they would just want to make a difference in the world. ✔

7) Explain how you could help the hungry?
If I had some pocket money left from working I would give that money to Caritas.  ✔

     

The Three Sources

 

In the Life education van we learnt about the three Sources and they are: Food from animals, Food from the ground, and mixed ingredients. Food from Animals are like Chicken, beef and eggs. Food from the ground are fruits, vegetables and different types of nuts. Mix ingredients are like sweets, chocolates and soda. 

Life Education Van

Today was Room Three's last day going to the Life Education Van. The Life Education Van comes every year to our school to teach us more about life. We met Harold the giraffe.  Today we learnt about different food sources and the food pyramid. We even learnt about our body digestion. Their are three parts in your mouth that you use to eat and it was your teeth, Tongue and siliva. Then the food that you ate go's down into something we call your Oesophagus  throat. It squeezes the food down and it  moves around your body so it could be in  certain parts in your body. The next place that the food goes to is your small Intestines and from there it is broken up into small bits so the good bits could go into your blood in your arm and the bad bits it will go into the toilet.   

Healthy Lunch Box

Today Room Three had to draw a picture about our healthy lunches, we also learnt what is good for having in our lunch boxes. I drawed a Apple, a sandwich, Orange, Yoghurt and a cookie.  There were  three parts for a healthy lunch, and they were Protein fruit body good stuff and a fun thing. I hope you
