Holy Spirit Strand

In Room 7, we are  learning about The Holy Spirit for the next 5 weeks.
Our learning intention for this week is to find out, how the Holy Spirit works in people in the Old Testament.
First we had to brainstorm on what we know about the Holy Spirit.
Here is my Brainstorm. My next step is to know more scriptures about the Holy Spirit.

Anzac Letter

Dear Aurora, Hola, Joshua, & Valensia
Shivers go down my spine as I think of the war. We had to attend mass this morning, it made me feel better. After the mass there was  Liturgy, contributed to  the Anzac’s . I felt honoured to be part of the Liturgy. I felt very sick, and afraid I might mess it up. As I spoke, the more I shivered, the more I felt sick. But when it finished I felt much better and relieved that it was all over. It was a beautiful & emotional liturgy.
I will write to you soon.

My Letter to Mrs Tui

Dear Mrs Tui
The holidays were fine,  and plain. But there was one thing that actually put a smile on my face.  For the last week of the holidays, I went to my aunt's house. For the first time I actually enjoyed my holidays. I felt very excited and speechless when I found out that we were going to the movies. I was shaking when the movie started. For the first time I wasn’t annoyed or distracted by my Mum or Dad, or had to take my sister to the toilet. That smile turned into a frown once I heard the word school.
I will write to you soon

The Easter Vigil

The Easter Vigil is the last mass for Holy Week.
The mass is split into four parts.  The mass starts outside.  The Service of Light, Liturgy of the Word, Liturgy of Baptism, & The Liturgy of the Eucharist.

The Service of Light:
The atmosphere of the Church is different, the lights are out and the Holy Water is drained. The service begins outside, A new fire is lit and blessed.

Liturgy of the Word:
During the Easter Vigil, nine readings are provided. Seven from the old testament and two from the new testament. These readings help us to meditate on the beautiful creations God has provided us.

Liturgy of Baptism:
During this time of Easter and  the water is blessed, New members are brought into Church through baptism.

The Liturgy of Eucharist:
The mass goes on with the Eucharist, as usual. The bread & wine is blessed. And we receive the body and blood of Christ.

Expressive Writing : Comparing

Here is a piece of writing I have written this year, I will compare this to a piece of writing I wrote last year. Hope you
enjoy:)

2015
It was a normal Sunday, I was helping my Mum make the Lunch. All of a sudden everything went still.  “ Malu just died”. When I heard that my heart stopped. I thought back to the time  found  out that Malu was going to die. I couldn’t stop crying. It was a very devastating time for my family.  The saddest part was that, he died 5 days before Christmas.

We all went still, I felt like bursting into tears but I knew I had to stay strong for him. He had been sick for as long as I could remember. He had his last hours in the hospital  with the family. We had to wait for my Dad to arrive home, it felt like waiting for a turtle in a race.  Everything around me was moving slow.

When we arrived at the rest home/hospital we saw alot of family, and friends gather in that one room. I couldn’t bear to go inside. I hated seeing my mum upset and sad. It just made me sad thinking about it. I hated the holidays, it wasn’t that fun or happy at all. In fact it was the exact opposite.

After the Body was clean and frozen, it was taken to my Aunt's House. Everyday and night we would spend our time there.  Everyone who knew uncle Malu, went to the house and paid there respects. One the Funeral day, all of the family were at the house. As I stood at the doorstep I could just feel the emotion and hurt.

2014

The Samoan tradition is like none other. The Samoan tradition is very strong in Religion and Dance. The Malu is worn by the highest chief's daughter in a village, She is called the Taualuga or Taupou. She lead’s her village with dignity and respect. She dance’s the Taualuga. She wears a head piece and performs her dance. Us Samoa's use the kava at special occasions. Today, Samoan Girls use the Malu as a display. Little do they know the Malu is very Sacred. The Malu is only revealed at special occasions.
