New Zealand

We have plenty of things to be proud of in New Zealand, Like for example the Lord of Rings were filmed here in Aotearoa. The biggest sport in New Zealand is Rugby, It is so big that the Rugby World Cup was held in New Zealand and we won the Cup.

Letter to Family

Dear Family in Samoa and Australia

I know that this letter might not reach out to you guys but I just want to say Merry Christmas. I hope you get this letter. What are you doing for Christmas. I can’t wait to visit you guys in Aussie,

I hope I’m still coming. It feels like a very long time since you have been gone. Family in Samoa, I remember when I came to Samoa for Christmas and always went to your house. For Christmas we had a BIG feast and afterwards we had Ice-cream.

I also remember when I was crying because I didn’t want to go back to New Zealand. Going to Samoa was such an Adventure I wish I could experience it one more time. I will pray for you guys everyday. I would love it if I could send lots of food and water and other supplies that you guys need for this summer. I know that in Samoa during summer its very hot.

All I’m trying to say to you guys in Samoa and Australia is Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Cultural Day

Today Room's 7, 6 and 3 celebrated Diversity. To start off a sunny day we attended Mass, and the theme of Mass today was Diversity. Diversity means the Difference's  that we have and  we are all the same. We celebrated by showing each other our different presentations. Each classroom has a Continent and throughout this term we have been learning about those continents. Room 3s continent is South America, Room 6s continent is Asia and Rooom 7s continent is Europe.

In our classses  we have spilt up into four groups which are four countries from the continent that we are learning about.
In the Morning Room 7 were presenting first. Their presentations were Amazing and Exciting. The very first group from their Presentation was U.K and the very last group was Spain.

Instead of having four presentations they had Five presentations so their  one took for long. The Next class was Room 3. Their presentations were Awesome, because of their beautiful presenting I was starting to get chills and butterfly's.

My group was first India. I felt like I was going to spew up. After our presentations I felt very relived and happy that, that was over. But it wasn't over yet, After lunch we were going to Dance. Each group from the classes had to do a Traditional dance in front of the whole school.

Instead of having Butterfly's and chills I was about to faint. The order of the dances went from Room 7, to Room 3 and last of all Room 6. Like before the first group to dance was U.K and the last group dance was Japan. In my class we have been learning about India, Thailand, China and Japan. Our dance was a Bollywood dance that was originated in Mumbai.

My experience from today was such a Journey and I hope one day you might want to learn or discover these Continents. Asia, Europe and South America:-)

Narative Writing 1

Horray! Can’t Wait to go Around the World. My Journey starts at the Airport. Saying farewell to my family is the hard part, but going away was the fun part. The first stop is Australia to see my family and from there I will go to the Pacific Islands.

Finally we are here. . I work as a Babysitter so I’ve don’t got             so much experience in travelling like others But I can’t wait to travel around the World. In Australia my first stop is in Carins to see my Aunty, I can’t wait!!!! Especially when it is my first time going on a aeroplane.

“Hi mum I’m in Cairns visiting aunty Carmen.” It is so good to hear from Mum. it is also emotional for me as well because she has just found out Cancer is back.

Mum and I has been fighting Cancer for as long as I could remember. I am going to stay with my Aunty for a couple of  days and then I will go to a Hotel in Sydney. Such a fun weekend over at my Aunt's house. On Saturday we went to the Zoo it was so cool seeing loads of animals, My favorite was seeing  the Koala. On Sunday we went Chuch and then after church we went to the Pools and then we had lunch.. My friends and I spent a whole week in Sydney. Goodbye Australia Hello Pacific Islands.

Because of the money that was raised for me to go I could only pick 2 islands to go to so I decided  to go to Fiji and Niue for 4 days. Going off to Fiji was such a adventure, I’m going to have the best weekend ever. On friday we are going to swim in the sea explore the island.

The rest of the days I am going to stay home and pretty much do nothing, but on Sunday I’m going to church with friends. I’m not really sure what I’m going to do on Monday but I sure that I will do something fun.

Hay! we have finally arrive, the water is so clear that I can see the sand. Hot burning sun, cold refreshing water what a Day. Meeting New people and seeing new sights was Awesome. So now I got 3 more awesome days awaiting for me. Does time have to go so fast.

I hate saying goodbyes and farewelling family or friends. Going to Niue was such a Adventure. Unfortunately I Only booked 2 day at Niue so I was very upset when I arrived. But in the next two days I am going to spend it seeing family and visiting sights.

Today is tuesday and so far it is  going well. I’ve seen so many family and friends.  Can’t wait for tomorrow but at the same time I’m so Sad to farewell my family. Now I’ve only got 3 countries to go to. Which are America, Brazil and France. The first country that I am going to is Brazil.

With each country I am going to spend 2 days with each country. Yeah finally on the plane, I just realised that I don’t got my wallet. Oh my Gosh, please God I need you to help me. Now I'm thinking what am I going to do. As soon as I arrived  at Brazil I booked a flight back Niue.

As I board the plane I just realised that I’ve left it with my family, I’m thinking if I call them and tell them that I’ve left my Wallet they will look after it until I get there. Hooray My wallet is safe. I’m never going around the world again. So I’m off on the first flight back to New Zealand.

My highlight from travelling was meeting new people and seeing the different sights. “Welcome back to New Zealand” Hearing from my family was like sleeping forever and waking up. As I hug each one of my family members tears of joy comes running down my cheeks, and I think to myself  I’m home:-)

Term 2 Reflection

In Term 2 I enjoyed having visitors come into our classroom because I really enjoyed hearing how they became successful and how they reacted to our questions. I also enjoyed swimming because it was really fun learning how to swim in different ways. Another highlight from this term was learning new maths strategies for multiplication, division and fractions because it was very hard at the start of the year for me, but now I know them all very well.

My lowlights from term 2 was twisting my ankle because I wasn’t allowed to run or walk that much. I didn’t really enjoy soccer because I don’t really like to play sports, only Netball. Another highlight from this term was when we didn’t swim for 2 weeks because I really enjoyed getting wet and having fun with our instructors.

What I am looking forward to for next term for our inquiry because we are going to learn about Asia, I love learning about countries and continents. Another thing that I am looking forward to is doing Music because we are going to work more on our ukuleles.

Weekly Reflection- Week 9:)

My highlights from this week was going swimming on Thursday because at the end we got free time. Another highlight from this week was getting into groups and making up ideas for our 100 day party because it was fun talking about what was going to happen next week.

My lowlights from this week was doing our Healthy Foods presentation because I don’t know anything about the different food categories. Another lowlights from this week was our teacher having to go to another class because of the behavior that was in our class.

What I am looking forward to for Week 10 is planning our egg challenge because I like creating new things and trying out new things.

Thankful

I am thankful for having an education and being able to learn because in some countries girls don’t get to go school. Another thing  that I am thankful for is having parents   because some children don’t have parents and they have foster parents. The last thing that I am really thankful for is food and water because without food and water you won’t  survive,  and because some children around the world eat nothing and have to starve.

I show that I am thankful by saying thank you when I get something . Another way that I show that I am thank is by doing my work. The last way that I so that I am thankful is by don’t wasting the food that I am given.

Alex Visit

Make your own slide show at Animoto.

Yesterday the 20th of june, we had a successful person who came into our class to talk to us about his journey. His name is Alex and he is Miss Leaupepe friend’s husband.  First we started with a prayer, then Alex our speaker talked about himself.  Alex talked about his life and where he lived.

Alex is half Samoan and half Palagi, he was also lucky enough to study in England. To be able to study in England you have to apply for this scholarship which is called the Rhodes  scholarship. Only three people a year get to go to England so Alex was lucky enough to have that opportunity.

When he came back from England he worked for Trade Me for 3 years. Now he is working at the gym which is called Les Mills. Alex said that he was going to travel to America next  month to go around the different gyms. He also showed us pictures of England and where he lived.

When he finished talking about his life, we had  to asked him questions. I asked him how many countries that he has been to, and he said that he has been to 30 countries. At the end we took pictures with him. I can’t wait for our next speaker  because I like learning  more about being successful. My favourite part from his visit was him talking about Wellington and his school.

Jonny Wartman's Visit:)

My class was lucky enough to get a visit from Jonny Wartman. He is originally from Christchurch. He talked to us about graffiti and how he got started his career. He said when he was a little boy he loved cartoons. Jonny said that there weren't that much graffiti around where he lived. He found out about graffiti when he was a teenager. Some of us asked him questions. I asked him what he has succeeded  in and he said he has succeeded in having a daughter and being able to create. Then we went outside then he got a big piece of paper then he talked to us about graffiti. He said that he went around the world to do graffiti but he didn't get paid to go around the world.
Then he started to spray onto the piece of paper and he created a beach. I like it how he mixed up different colors
together. Then in the end when he finished the picture sprayed on the picture  SPX. My favourite part from his visit was him creating the picture and him mixing up the different colors. I can't wait for our next  visitor because I love finding about our visitors and their journey. When our next visitor  comes I want to ask him/her more questions, and I want to learn more about them.

Holy Spirit

Circle the gifts that the Holy Spirit brings people at Baptism

belief in God the Bible the Eucharist hope in God
faith makes them sons and daughters of God help to live with the love of Christ

Match column one with column two
Original sin -weakened human nature
Personal sin- knowing yet choosing to do something wrong

Faith - Whakapono- helps people know and love Go
Hope - Tumanako-helps people trust in God’s goodness

Look up these Scripture references in the Bible and match them with the sentence that best fits the text
John 14:17
* You can know the Spirit because the Spirit lives with you and is in you.

Galatians 4:6
*Since you are children God has sent the Spirit to live in you.

1 Corinthians 6:19
* Your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit - Te Wairua Tapu.

Finish these sentences:
To be a child of God means to be in his family and to be welcomed to a community

The Holy Spirit helps people to Choose the right choice and to follow Jesus footsteps.

One way children can show love - aroha is by loving their parents and going to church.

Seals

This Week we have been looking at water and its ability's. We had to chose a animal that lives under water, I choose a seal because I thought it would be very interesting to find out about a seal. We had to choose five questions. Then we had to answer those questions. I hope you enjoy my presentation about Seals:)

Week 6 Reflection

My highlights from this week was having health professionals come in to speak to us. There names were Teresa and Clint, they work with children with their health and they talked to us about the different types of health professionals that you can work as. Another highlight from this week was swimming because on Wednesday was our last day of swimming and we had loads of fun with Jillian  our instructor.

My lowlights from this week was not being able to swim again because I love swimming and we always learn new things. Another lowlight from this week was our Math strategy with our multiplication because some of it was confusing and hard.

What I'm looking forward to is  learning new strategies with  multiplication and learning new facts about water and what it can do.

Math Strategy

This week the strategy I have learned is using compensation and place value to solve timetable problems. Here is an example of how to use it.
1 camel eats 29 bales of hay altogether each week. How many bales of hay would 9 camels eat? First what I would do  is  figure out how to solve the problem. So the equation is 9 times 29.
First of all I have to figure out what 9 times 30 is. 9 times 30 is 270 now I have to figure out what 9 times 29 is. You have to take away 9 from 270 which is  261.

Netball Tournament

On Wednesday the 5 of June I got to participate in going to the Netball tournament. First of all when I got to school I had to change into my netball uniform. After that Miss Leaupepe talked to us about what was going to happen when we got to the netball courts.

Then she split us into groups, the first group got to go with my dad and the rest went with Miss Leaupepe.

Later on we arrived at the netball courts, we saw lots of other schools warming up. When the others arrived we had to wait for a while for the games to start.

My dad and Mafu looked after the year 6 team, Miss Leaupepe looked after the year 5 team and Ella looked after the year 7 and 8 team. When everyone was at the netball courts we had to go with the people who were going to look after us.

Our very first game, the team that were going to play us were not there so we won that game.
My highlights from the netball tournament was playing with other schools and watching our school play as well.

I loved  going to the netball tournament because it was very fun playing, something else that I enjoyed was watching my sister play for the first time. The next time I get chosen to play for the team, I would love to play other positions.

Nickson's Visit

On Wednesday we were lucky to have a visit from Nickson who works at Mai FM. He talked to us about his childhood and how he  achieved his goals. We were lucky enough that we got to be on the radio. First Nickson asked us questions,  then he chose someone to speak on his phone. He said that there is a new app, you can speak on the radio with this app. All you have to do is press the recorded button then it will go all the way into the station, and the person there will press a button and you would be live on the radio. After he finished recording us we got to ask him questions. When everyone was finished asking him questions, he pulled out CDs, posters and stickers. All the posters and stickers were ours, but Miss Leaupepe is going to choose 5 people to get CD and 4 people to get free clothes.  After that we had a picture with Nickson.
What I liked about Nickson’s visit was him asking us questions because we got to be on the radio. I can’t wait for our next visitor!.

Michelle's Visit

Last week on friday room 6 got a visit from Michelle, she works at the Niu FM company. She came to talk to us about how she became successful. We also got to ask her questions. She works as a stand up comedian.  Michelle is the boss at her work so she gets to leave whenever she wants. She is also a Cook Island, one of the her hobbies are Rugby League. Michelle also loves the Warriors. Heaps of people were asking questions. When everyone finished asking her questions we took pictures with her. It was a great experience with her and her time coming to our school. My favourite part from her visit was her giving us a joke. I can’t wait for the next  visitor that is coming to our school.

The ZOO

Last Sunday my family and I went to the ZOO. We went to the ZOO because my dad’s work was celebrating it’s birthday. First of all we went to church, then after church we went to the ZOO.

Later on everyone was at the ZOO. It was so cool because there were people who were catering so we didn’t need to take food and we also got any drink that we wanted. Over 600 people came to the ZOO from my dad’s work.

After we had our lunch we went to explore the ZOO. One of my highlights from the ZOO was seeing the different types of animals like a tiger and a cheetah. The best animal that I saw was the elephant.

Later on it started to pour out rain continuously. So we decided to go home, I had an awesome time. Maybe next I go to the ZOO I would see more animals.

Birthday

Today I celebrated my birthday with my family. In the morning I woke up and had breakfast which was McDonald's from my dad.  After that I had to clean up the house. Later on we were at church. Then we went to Sylvia Park to buy my birthday present from Valley Girl. Finally we went home where I got a big surprise from my aunty, I got a cake and shoes. After our lunch  it was time to blow the candles on the cake. Later on we had dessert, which was cake and ice-cream.

Making Sentences More Interesting

In room 6 we are learning how to make our sentences more interesting. Miss Leaupepe wrote simple sentences and we had to turn the smile sentences into a compound sentence. We had to add two words to describe the noun. Here are a few examples.

The girls danced.
The talented amazing girl danced for her family because it was new years.

The man worked.
The humble tired man works  for his family everyday so they can have a roof under their head.

The boys shouted.
The loud naughty boys shouted in the classroom because they needed a pencil

The donkey brayed.
The ugly smelly donkey brayed for his mother who just passed away.

The fire-fighters hurried.
The exhausted stressed fire-fighters hurried through the fire because a person was stuck.
